Central Loire Day Tour

The Central Loire vineyards are often overlooked but can provide high quality wines of superb value for money – just the sort of wine we like to drink at home!

Our tour visits vineyards from the eastern edge of the Touraine, along the river Cher and heading in the direction of Sancerre. Indeed, the limestone soils of Reuilly, which produce attractive white, red and rosé wines, are the same as in the best areas of Sancerre. Quincy is an ancient wine-growing region producing white wines from Sauvignon Blanc only. They are highly appreciated by devotees of dry whites.

Valençay, with its famous chateau, is also well known as the only place in France which can boast AOC status for both wine and cheese. For those wishing to take in some history and culture, Valençay makes a great visit. It produces red, white and rosé wines. The tiny appellation of Touraine Oisly is a gem sought out by connoisseurs, making light and elegant white wine from Sauvignon Blanc vines, many of them very ancient.

Given the location of these vineyards, clients will want to stay in the area; choose a hotel along the Cher between Selles-sur-Cher and Vierzon, stay in our cottage, or drive to a pickup point nearby.
